Position Summary

The Director of Global Security will be the lead expert to specify and enforce all security protocols and investigations along with identifying and resolving all security incidences at Advanced Energy sites globally. The role will be expected to identify people and property risks and provide appropriate remediation improvements.

Responsibilities

The candidate must have extensive experience in a multi-national corporate security role, local/state/national civilian or military law enforcement, or within intelligence services. Electronics manufacturing or semiconductor experience is a plus.

Technical Environment

  • Extensive knowledge of a variety of CCTV systems, deploying cameras in all relevant locations. Create technical and staff monitoring structure to ensure 24/7/365 coverage.

  • Extensive knowledge of access control systems to support large sites. Create montoring structure to quickly investigate alarms, issues, and errors in the system. Be able to produce activity reports for special projects and attendance reports for occupancy studies.

  • Select and procure qualified security providers including technology and manpower in all global sites. Be capable to remove and recommend for termination any and all 3rd party security providers.

  • Recommend and deploy technology solutions that enhance and improve security capabilities at various sites.

  • Ensure the good operational condition of all security equipment and technical assets. Regularly identify gaps, downtime, and future potential issues and implement appropriate preventive and corrective measures to avoid disruption or decreased capability.

Security Management

  • Review existing security process at all sites, conduct risk analysis, recommend improvements, and advocate for security priorities.

  • Maintain and teach tactics and behavior to de-escalate situations to avoid physical confrontations or harm to people on site.

  • Be capable of conducting investigations and/or leading 3rd party investigators for specific incidences of theft, harm, or intrusion. Report progress and findings to management.

  • Standardize security protocols across all major sites, especially factories and production facilities, with high value assets.

  • Review, modify, and approve daily activities of 3rd party providers, including site inspections, daily rounds, after-hours activity, visitor management, traffic control.

  • Maintain relationships with relevant contacts in management, HR, Legal, Finance, and others to collaborate on incidences and training.

  • Collaborate with EHS team to ensure alignment between security and safety protocols, particularly with hazardous materials. This includes conducting joint inspections and coordinating emergency response procedures.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive crisis management plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters, and civil unrest. Coordinate drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of these plans and ensure readiness to respond effectively to emergencies.

  • Expect 1-4 direct reports in remote locations along with dotted-line management of onsite security forces in all locations. Be able to direct and monitor activities remotely and onsite, through capable 3rd party providers and supervisors.

  • Capable of developing and managing global security budget, vendor service contracts, RFP process, operational support engagements, etc. Work with Facilities leaders to advocate for funds, make trade-offs, and work within defined budgets. Work with Finance as needed.

  • Identify and implement cost saving programs and recommend continuous quality improvement practices.

Industry Knowledge

  • Advanced physical and non-physical security applications for asset protection in a factory environment.

  • Maintain current security credentials, certifications, and accreditations relevant to this role.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and industry standards across all global sites. This may involve conducting audits, implementing corrective actions, and staying abreast of changes in regulations to maintain compliance.

  • Must have high quality, global security supplier contacts capable of supplying all forms of corporate security for multi-national corporations, including executive security, armed security, onsite guards, special projects, investigations, technology, etc

  • Establish a business relationship with fully capable and qualified ready-to-deploy assets to provide executive security and special projects globally as requested.

  • Involve and collaborate with local and federal law enforcement as necessary, both for specific incidences and for training purposes. Maintain close relationships with local law enforcement near all critical sites. Provide relevant site information to ensure quick response time.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess Bachelor’s/University Degree.

  • 10-25 years of work experience as a corporate security manager or in law enforcement.

  • Professional certifications are a plus.

  • Able to maintain the highest level of discretion, protect and maintain confidentiality of employee and 3rd party information.

  • Excellent executive communicationskills, both written and oral in English.

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and of local government agencies.

  • Able to create presentations for executive management

  • Works in standard office environment and uses general office equipment (phone, PC, copier, etc.).

  • Expected travel to be 25%, depending on home location. APAC facilities are priority, but global coverage is expected.

  • Need to respond to emergency situations with potential 24/7 accessibility
