POSITION SUMMARY:
The Electrical Engineer will work in the design and development of power supplies. This position will envision and validate innovations of advanced power solutions for data center, enterprise, telecom, industrial and medical applications, and enhance overall customer experience. This role will also be responsible for a diverse range of engineering tasks including designing, testing, and analyzing systems and components as part of a focused team. Lastly, this position will be responsible for summarizing results and delivering proposals to management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and develop efficient and cost-effective power supplies per customer and regulatory specifications (i.e., analog and digital circuits, EMI filters, power circuits, etc.) including circuit/magnetic design, micro-code development, schematics, board layout, and prototype testing.
Interface with internal departments to ensure schedule, cost, and quality goals are met.
Develop Mathcad models, simulation tools and other predictive methods to reduce changes on subsequent iterations of each design.
Participate as an active part of the core team to meet schedule, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction goals.
Assist in the development, testing, and de-bugging of prototype power supply units.
Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Location: Wilmington, MA; Must be able to travel occasionally domestically and internationally as required.
Environment: Works in a noisy, fast-paced power development lab and standard office environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be obtained
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and peers.
Ability to learn and use professional concepts appropriate to engineering, including analytical methods, computer aided analysis and design tools, diagnostic instruments and test equipment, lab skills appropriate to design, selecting appropriate components and materials for designs
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based design and analysis tools.
Working knowledge of Database, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; consistent demonstrated ability to meet schedule requirements and define priorities without direct supervision
EXPERIENCE:
Essential
- 0-2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or similar
Desirable
- Experience with Mathcad, Cadence, Altium, Spice based simulation, and/or View Logic
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's (BSEE) degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPENSATION:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $80,000 to $103,000 per year.
